As part of our mission to uncover and tell compelling stories from the region, we developed a series of proposals for the ARTE channel. This particular project, created in collaboration with Les Nouveaux Jours, presented both a creative and technical challenge for our team at El Mano Films. Filming on the Altiplano, the high plateaus of Bolivia, we documented the disappearance of Lake Poopó, the country’s second-largest lake, now reduced to a barren salt desert. This transformation has had devastating effects on local communities and biodiversity. Balancing the demands of storytelling with the logistical complexities of such a remote and fragile environment made this an unforgettable experience for the team: Sophie Bontemps, Juliette Igier, Nico Muñoz and Felix Gimenez.
